Tournament softball season begins in November. Many teams are doing a little make-over as players and teams are moving up in age. Now is a good time to remind players and coaches to be very respectful and show a great deal of common courtesy. Players should talk to their current team coach to let him know they would like to move up. Players are not being disloyal and coaches need to respect the player’s wishes. Coaches need to inform other coaches of a player’s desires to possibly join their respective team. We must avoid players and other coaches from going behind a coaches back. Coaches should never cut a player just because he wants to move on. If a player is cut, coaches are obligated to help the player find another team. All players and coaches want to be on a team that is competitive and fun. Moving or aging up is part of that process, as is remaining with the team one enjoys.
