This Latin phrase from a dead language – “out of many, one” – became a motto of the United States in 1782, representing a core belief that America’s strength is in people acting together for a single cause.
That idea is alive and well today in team sports generally and in Senior Softball specifically. Every day, in every game, in every city and state, individual players gather with the simple, but powerful goal of coming together as a team to play a game we all love. The best result, of course, is to win. But the greatest result is the strength of spirit our joint efforts instill in our hearts. That spirit spreads to the teams we play and to those who watch it happen.
What better way to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our nation than to play a simple game, drawing players from many places, with many past histories and beliefs, into one team based on a belief in one another.
